Elsa Schultze, Secretary-General

Elsa Schultze is a 2nd year in the College of Arts & Sciences chasing degrees in Foreign Affairs and the marginally more employable field of Economics. She accepted a long time ago that all of her time would be devoted to the International Relations Organization and VAMUN.  When she gives up sleep, she also finds time for the Jefferson Literary and Debating Society.  Elsa has loved VAMUN since she attended as a sophomore in high school, and she’s excited to gavel in its 32nd session.

Kate Travis, Under-Secretary-General for Delegations

Kate is a first-year potential Politics or Economics major who hails from Boulder, Colorado and misses her mountains dearly. She joined IRO shortly after staffing the VAMUN XXXI Conference last November, and loves  international politics and travel. She spends her other time as a member of the Jefferson Literary and Debating Society and a first-year judge for the University Judiciary Committee. She enjoys hiking, skiing and watching the West Wing.

Saiful Khan, Under-Secretary-General for Crisis Committees

Saiful is a second year at UVA, prospectively majoring in Foreign Affairs and Literature. He was born and raised in New York City, which began cultivating strong international interests in him from an early age. Saiful has been actively involved with the International Relations Organization since his first semester of college and has participated in Model UN since high school. His travels have brought him to the Netherlands, Bangladesh, France, Kuwait, Germany, Canada, and England.  In his spare time, he likes to play basketball, write and record songs, and engage in witty banter. Saiful is also an avid Knicks fan and an Arsenal FC supporter.

Kate Kingsbury, Under-Secretary-General for General Assemblies and Specialized Committees

Born across the pond but raised in northern Virginia, Kate is a first year in the College of Arts and Sciences hoping to major in neuroscience and biochemistry with a minor in bioethics. Her science-filled academic plans don't interfere with her love of all things Model UN, and she is happy to be part of IRO at UVa. Kate is currently on the editorial board for the college's undergraduate research journal, The Oculus, and researches in the department of biology. When she can find the time, she enjoys kayaking, hiking, cooking with friends, and watching 30 Rock. Kate is looking forward to a great conference and hopes that everyone has a great weekend at UVa!

Natalie Holmes, Under-Secretary-General for Administration & Logistics

Hailing from northern Virginia like no one else here at UVA, Natalie has just begun studying Foreign Affairs but has loved it thus far. This career choice may or may not be influenced by the fact that Natalie has never been on an airplane. Ever. But she will change that, and in the meantime greatly enjoys learning about exotic lands (and their politics). Apart from schoolwork, Natalie enjoys drinking too much coffee, dancing salsa, watching old movies (Cary Grant anyone?), being outdoors, and failing to figure out how her life is going to play out.. As USG for Administration & Logistics, Natalie can't wait to administer to you as logistically as possible! No but really, be prepared for the best Model UN conference of your life.

Nikki Kaul, Under-Secretary-General for Business and Public Relations

Nikki is a second year in the College of Arts and Sciences hailing from Vienna, VA. Go NoVA! She is seriously considering pursuing a major in either Biochemistry or Chemistry, and hopes to be able to save lives someday. She participated in her high school's Model UN team for four years, and has been involved with IRO since her first year. This is Nikki's first year on secretariat and she is very excited to be able to serve delegates as USG of Business, PR, and Charitable Giving. Nikki is also involved in the Indian Students Association and Madison House volunteering here at UVa. Aside from all this, her other interests include tennis and sports, being outdoors, music, traveling, and trying not to embarrass herself daily. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to email her and Nikki welcomes you to VAMUN XXXII!

Katherine Baird, Under-Secretary-General for Staff

Katherine is a second year majoring in biology. She spends most of her time in her lab where she conducts independent research in developmental neuroscience. She hopes to go to grad school and expand her research into neuropharmacology. When she's not in the lab you can find her on the mountain skiing and stuff with Virginia's Ski and Snowboard Team or in the gym flippin' and stuff with Virginia's club gymnastics team. Where does VAMUN fit in? Model UN is her guilty pleasure. She is currently Member at Large for Virginia's International Relations Organization. She like to hang out with her International Relations friends and pretend like she knows what they're talking about when they get in debates about development in Africa and makes developmental neuroscience jokes that no one understands. When she has free time she loves watching How I Met Your Mother, singing songs like "Rich Girl" (Hall and Oats), "Sweet Caroline," and "Country Roads" in a booth with her friends at her favorite restaurant, The Virginian, and playing with other people's dogs on The Lawn. She is thrilled to be a part of VAMUN and excited to see everyone next fall in their Western Business Attire!
