UVa Tours

Tours of the Grounds of the University of Virginia are conducted by the University Guide Service and allow delegates and faculty advisors alike an opportunity to explore the beautiful Grounds of the University. Groups are given a chance to experience a dual historical and admissions tour, taking in the history of Mr. Jefferson's academical village while receiving information valuable to prospective applicants to the University. For more information, contact our Undersecretary General for Public Relations.

Monticello Tours

In order to take advantage of our location, schools are encouraged to visit Monticello, the home of the founder of the University of Virginia and our nation's third president, Thomas Jefferson. Monticello is the only home in America on the World Heritage List of the United Nations and a not-to-be missed attraction for visitors to Charlottesville. For information about tours, visit the Monticello website.

Head Delegate Events

The VICS Secretariat places a special importance on Head Delegates. They are the link between the delegates and VICS, and their input during Head Delegate Meetings are essential to the success of VICS. That being said, at VICS we like to make sure the Head Delegates get the opportunity to spend some time with Secretariat members and chairs outside of the professional context. At VICS, we believe the best way to ensure a fantastic conference experience is to make sure Head Delegates (and by extension all delegates) feel comfortable approaching any member of VICS Secretariat with any problems that may arise. For this reason, we have special events apart from Head Delegate Meetings. The Head Delegate Soiree, and the Head Delegate Drink-Off serve as opportunities for both the Head Delegates and Secretariat/Chairs to get to know each other and mingle.

International Relations Organization

VICS is hosted by the University's own International Relations Organization, a student-run group dedicated to promoting international affairs in the University and Charlottesville communities. In addition to VICS, IRO also hosts VAMUN, a high school-level simulation conference, and produces the Wilson Journal of International Affairs, an IRO-created research journal, featuring undergraduate research in the field of politics. VICS is staffed entirely by members of IRO and students will have plenty of opportunities to meet and interact with the members of IRO throughout the weekend.
